This quilt was begun by my great grandmother. I inherited some sewn and some cut out stars. I chose the background color to be a sky but not too dark, and put the pieces together about 15 years ago. It was my first quilt top, and I just got busy and set it aside. Recently I found out about a group that donates homemade quilts and blankets to wounded soldiers in Irag and Afganistan, so I decided to get 'er done. It is embroidered with the words, "trust, wait, hope, heal".
What a beautiful gesture, and I love your choice of words. I hope they will really inspire that soldier and enable him or her to do just that: trust, wait, hope and heal. I also think that the fact that this quilt was not whipped out in an afternoon may help it carry with it a sense of permanence and connection to the past. Hope that spirit is felt by everyone who wraps up in it!
It's such a loving gesture, and filled with history and sentimental value... I pray that the soldier who receives this will really appreciate this... and that it will compfort him or her in their needs
